Slums are very gross and dirty; over one million people live in them. It is very sad that a lot of people are poor and have to line in mud. Many young children have no home or live with their families in the slums. A slum is similar to a large ditch in the mountains, and usually poor people live in slums. Slums have negative effects in human population due to unsanitary conditions, dirty water and almost no medical care. Also many people die there because of diseases. Slums have lot of unsanitary conditions.

Slums are very unsanitary due to dirty water people living in slums have to poop in bag and they throw the bags in the stream, “its littered with refuse to: plastic bags, glass bottles”. Also, “flying toilets, bags filler with human waste”. This quote is saying that the people living in slums have to poop in bags and just throw it in the river or stream. In paraphrase this is saying its like pooping in a yard. That is is really gross, and then they live around there own human waste since they throw it in the river. Little kids die from doing things like that. They would spread a disease.

Sadly, people living in slums die. No one would want to live in slums, young women and children die from living in slums, and “Saharan Africa is more likely to die from water- borne and respiratory illness then rural children, and HIV”. This means that while living in the slums the little children are getting all kinds of diseases and the little kids usually die. In paraphrase this means that since they live in slums the kids die because they are poor and do not have good shelter. Also, people living slums do not have any medical care to take care for the diseases.

Nor, people living in slums almost have no medical care. “Determined to improve medical care”. This quote demonstrates that in order to say that they need to improve medical care that is like saying their medical sucks. In paraphrase if they get dieses they cannot do anything so they did they die that is it.

Therefore, slums are dirty and gross. Slums have negative effects in human population due to unsanitary conditions, and diseases, would you want to liv in a slum? Be grateful for what you have because people will die to live like we do. We have everything and they have nothing.

C.      Explanation- All this whole quote is saying that they have no toilets and have to poop in bags to get rid of their human waste since they are poor.
